Mexico City Earthquake: More than 200 People Dead

Yesterday, a huge earthquake were in Mexico City and 7.1 magnitude was recorded on Richter Scale. 225 people we re dead and a lot of people are still missing. The US Geological Survey predicts up to 1 to 10 billion economic damage as a result of the earthquake. The center of earthquake were in southwest of Puebla and southeast of Mexico City at depth of 51 kilometers. Big impact and damage is due to very low depth.

Under Enrique Rebsmen school, soldiers and firefighters found at least 22 dead body of children and four of adults. Still 30 children and 12 adults were missing.

Soldiers, firefighters and rescue worker with dogs are still searching for alive people in offices, hospitals, schools, apartment buildings, etc.  Electricity power were damage and most of city has not power supply.

A Volcanic Eruption

Popocatépetl volcano also erupted because of shaking earth caused by the massive earthquake.  Scientists are also keeping eyes of volcano because there is very high chance that do trigger volcanic eruptions.

In 1960, the volcano Cordon Caulle in the Andes erupted just after 2 days of a massive earthquake M 9.6 in Chile.

Injuries: 30,000

In 1985, a massive earthquake struck with M 8.1 in Mexico city. Due to that event, They were lost three to four billion USD in the form of 412 buildings collapsed and 3,124 were seriously damaged in Mexico city.
